Is mains power required beside the gate to operate the motor?
While mains power is always preferable, JDC Gate Automation has installed gates around Melbourne’s Northern, Western and Southern regions where mains power supply is not right next to the gate.
In these scenarios, we use low voltage motors and run an electrical cable to the nearest power source. We can also supply and install backup battery packs to ensure gate operation during power outages.
How does an automatic sliding gate work?
A motorised sliding gate is made of three parts: the gate itself, the motor and a gear rack which is attached to the gate.
- The Gate – The sliding gate has evenly spaced roller wheels attached along the bottom. These roll on a track which is secured to the ground.
- The Motor – The motor is secured to the ground and is powered by an electrical power source. In normal operations, the motor is activated by a remote or keypad. JCD Gate Automation can supply, install, and configure both.
- The Gear Rack – The gear rack is attached to the gate itself and is aligned with the rotating gears of the motor. The alignment of the gear rack and the motor are essential to ensure the gate operates correctly.
